VACATION vs TRIP

At the beginning of March, Tyler and I went on a cruise! And it was amazing. But it wasn't just a cruise--it was a VACATION! What's that supposed to mean? It means kids free--not kids are free, or free fun for all kids, or kids are wild and free. No no no, it means kid-free, no kids, nada, just two youngish adults having fun and being free!! I'm talking eat whenever you want, no highchair required. Eat when the food is hot. Stay as long as you want. Read the whole menu. Order multiple entrees cause why not. Eat early or late whatever you want. Ok, we did more than eat the whole time, but the cruise liner most likely lost money on us.

Also, laying on the deck and actually attempting to tan (which is virtually impossible as a mom, I don't care how often you go to the pool), while reading a book (also never happens). Lets not forget taking naps. They're beautiful aren't they. Just the word 'nap' evokes imagery of billowing white sheets, endless down comforters, perfectly stuffed pillows and gracefully falling into bed, like those commercials.

The highlight of the vacation is definitely being at port, exploring foreign places and experiencing the culture. Our unspoken goal is always to find the absolute best thing that island has to offer and doing it at the lowest possible price. It can be a challenge but we love it/its in our blood, though we have eased up a bit. We're not as cheap as we used to be. More on that later...

Oh and there were a couple dance floors and Tyler got like way into it one night and almost showed me up. So win win.

Obviously, this Vacation would not have been possible, were it not for Tyler's amazing mom and sister watching the 3 crazy, well, 2 crazy kids and 1 beautiful baby for a full week!

So why wasn't this a TRIP? Cause a trip, in our opinion, is with kids, and don't get me wrong, we love going on trips with the kids, and we love our kids, but its more or less the same work in a different location. It's like taking the office with you. And as a parent, I'm never off. I don't get weekends, or holidays, paid time off, or sick days. Sick days--thats a joke. So going on VACATION is truly so important and so looked forward to! We get to act like our crazy selves again, like back in the day when we met. We party like its 2009. It's a good time and I highly recommend it to all couples, at least yearly, if you can swing it.
Ciao
